Aaron Joby is an incredible young man. Not only a talented cricketer, Aaron despite being just 19 at the time of writing, is a passionate disability support worker that has a nature and demeanour that you just wish you could bottle. Genuine humility is hard to come by in the sporting world and its a pleasure to bring him onboard.

A talented Left-handed opening batter, Aaron is also a capable Wicketkeeper and part-time Right-arm Off Spinner, currently playing for South Brisbane Cricket Club in the Queensland Premier Cricket Competition.

Born in Liverpool, Aaron is a long-term Souths member, having played all his youth cricket for the club and graded by them at just 13 in the club’s 6th grade team. He continued to progress and was selected for the Queensland U15 side whilst also starring for Brisbane State High School in the Brisbane GPS competition.

Having been the youngest player in QLD Premier Cricket history to pass the 150+ mark (157* against Wests in 3rd Grade), Aaron made his First Grade debut in summer 2021-22 and has gone on to become a genuine senior squad member. Off the back of 289 runs @ 41.29 for the 2nd XI by the end of October 2023, Aaron was promoted to the 1st XI and given an extended run to show what he can do and a last start 39 against University showed he just continues to progress with each opportunity.

Aaron has had one season of UK experience, a 2022 stint with Kirkburton CC in the Huddersfield League when just 17. It was a baptism of fire for the youngster, who, despite being only 17, gave it a red-hot crack, scoring 505 runs with a best of 84* against Scholes CC in the League. He also took the gloves for the summer, bagging 19 dismissals.

Seeking a return to the UK in 2024, Aaron returns a more experience and accomplished player, despite still being a very young man. He’ll be a great fit for any UK club seeking a quality top order batsman that can take the gloves or bowl some tidy Off Spin for next summer. Aaron is completing his Cricket Australia Level One coaching qualification.
