Ainsley Ndlovu is a high-quality Spin-bowling All-rounder from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. A very capable Right-handed Middle Order batsman, Ainsley is an economical Slow Left-arm Orthodox Spinner that has been one of Zimbabwe domestic cricket’s most consistent spin exponents, leading to his Test, ODI & T20I debuts in 2019. Having made 16 international appearances, he dropped out of contention but has continued to represent the Tuskers Franchise with aplomb, the franchise for whom it all started with as a 19-year old in 2015.
Having represented Zimbabwe at U13 level, he headed off to South Africa to complete his schooling, attending Durban High School and becoming a regular selection for Kwa-Zulu Natal at U15 level through to multiple Coke Week selections before a return to Zimbabwe.
Ainsley made his first-class debut for Matabeleland Tuskers in Feb 2015 with a One-day debut the following month, with his T20 debut not coming until the 2017 Africa Cup in South Africa. Ainsley was named in Zimbabwe’s ODI squad for their series against the UAE but didn’t debut until the following series against The Netherlands, becoming the 26th bowler to take a wicket with his first delivery in an ODI match, when he dismissed Tobias Visee. His T20I debut cam against Afghanistan in Sept 2019.
In January 2020, he was named in Zimbabwe’s Test squad for their series against Sri Lanka, making his Test on 19 January 2020.
Ainsley has had three seasons of UK experience, all with Cannock CC in the Staffs Premier Division, scoring 1766 runs @ 33 and bagging 116 wickets @ 15.80 across his 63 appearances.
Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Ainsley will be a good pick up for any club seeking a genuine Slow Left-arm spin bowling all-rounder that can win a game with bat or ball.
