Amitha Kaushalya

Amitha is a tidy Left-Arm Orthodox Spinner from Pannipitiya in Colombo’s East. A Right-handed Tailender, Amitha isn’t known for his batting prowess but has re-emerged in the Sri Lankan professional game after what was an all too familiar lull after age group success for Zahira. He joined Panadura Sports Club and represented them at U23 level and making his First Class professional debut for them in 2019. He has since represented SL Air Force Sports club and most recently, Kalutara Town CC.

After bagging 37 wickets @ 13.22 for Zahira in the National U19 competition in 2012-13, Amitha drifted until 2016 when pulled into the Panadura U23 squad. He would keep chipping away and in Feb 2019, made his debut against SL Navy, bagging 4-58. He has gone on to play 9 First Class games since, picking up 31 wickets @ 31.45 with a career best of 5-41. Despite being a little expensive in Red ball cricket, Amitha has an impressive strike rate and is a genuine wicket-taking threat.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2022, Amitha will be a good pick up for any UK club seeking a genuine wicket-taking left-arm spinner for next summer.
