In Summer 2017-18, Gus was selected to represent the New Zealand XI against the touring West Indies side.
Gus relocated to Otago in 2019, linking with Albion Cricket Club and with a view to pushing his way into the Otago Volts side. Summer 2019-20 was a breakout summer for Gus, with exceptional form for Albion CC & Otago A, he was rewarded with his first List A appearances for the Volts in Feb 2020. A first class debut would follow just 12 months later at the back end of the 2020-21 summer. He moved to Canterbury ahead of the 2022-23 summer.
