Ankit Kumar is a strong, well-built Right Handed Top Order Batsman from Kurukshetra, India. The big hitting Opener is also a capable but sparingly used Right-arm Off-spinner. He comes highly recommended by fellow WSX gun, Shivam Chauhan who starred for Blackpool in 2021.
A big strapping lad, the Haryana native was first selected to represent his state in 2012 as a 15 year old in the Haryana U16 Schoolboys team. Ankit then fell off the radar a little but re-appeared in the Haryana U23 side in 2018 to contest the CK Nayudu Trophy in 2018-19 scoring 320 runs @ 35.55.
His form saw him given an opportunity to make his senior state debut, a Ranji Trophy fixture against Irfan Pathan’s Jammu & Kashmir in December 2018. Since then, Ankit has been a fairly regular selection for the Haryana side, with 578 runs in 13 games in red ball cricket. In 2019, Ankit made both his 50-over & T20 debuts.
Seeking his first season in the UK next summer, Ankit will be a quality pick up for any club seeking a clean-hitting top order Batsman that is sure to be a real match winner and crowd pleaser on small English grounds.
