Ashmead Nedd is an outstanding prospect from the West Indies. Hailing from Guyana, Ashmead is a capable but rarely required Right-handed Lower Order Batsman but his prowess lies in his outstanding Left-arm Orthodox Spin bowling. A schoolboy star, Ashmead was first selected for the West Indies U19 side at just 16 years old having dominated for Guyana through the age groups. He represent the West INdies at two consecutive ICC Under-19 World Cups in New Zealand (2018) & South Africa (2020) respectively.

His junior honours are an impressive read. Included West Indies U15 selection for their England tour in 2016, he had been a regular for the Guyana U15 team for the 3 years previous, having first been selected as a 12-year old. He was no token selection, bagging 11 wickets @ 15.18 at the West Indies Cricket Board Regional U15 Tournament. He would continue to be a feature through the age groups, culminating in his appearances on the World Stage. At the 2020 World Cup, he was the West Indies leading wicket-taker, picking up 11 wickets in 6 games.

At 18 he made his List A debut in November 2019, for the West Indies Emerging Team in the 2019–20 Regional Super50 tournament. 6 months later, he was drafted to the Leeward Islands in the players’ draft hosted by Cricket West Indies ahead of the 2020–21 domestic season. Shortly after being drafted by the Hurricanes, he was named in the Guyana Amazon Warriors squad for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and made his debut in August 2020 for the Amazon Warriors.

Seeking his first season in the UK, Ashmead will be a great pick up for a club seeking a genuinely class Left-arm spinner for this summer.
