Avindu Theekshana

Avindu Theekshana is a quality left-arm Spin bowling all-rounder from Galle, Sri Lanka. Currently representing Chilaw Marians CC in the Sri Lankan Domestic system, he was schooled at the prestigious Richmond College and was an integral performer for them through his time there, dominating with the ball and ultimately winning selection for the Sri Lankan U19 side.

A handy left-handed middle/lower order batsman that whilst not prolific, is no mug either, with a high price put on his wicket, he has been used as a night watchman and floated up and down the order throughout his career. His dominant skillset however is his crafty left-arm Orthodox spin.

Economical but dangerous, with an uncomplicated action, Avindu has been particularly effective in white-ball cricket but made his first-class debut for Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club in the 2018–19 Premier League Tournament in January 2019. His one-day debut came at the end of 2019, for Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club against Panadura.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2024, Avindu will be a handy pick up for any club seeking a Left-arm strike spinner that can contribute down the order next summer.
