Bamanye Xenxe is an incredibly talented seam-bowling all-rounder from South Africa’s Eastern Cape town of Middledrift. A right-arm Fast seamer, he clocks in around 80mph and naturally takes the ball away from the right-hander. Bamanye is also a hard-hitting, right-handed middle/lower order batsman who has shown his worth with the bat on a number of occasions at provincial level for Border as well as for the University of Fort Hare in the Border Premier League.

Identified as an incredibly talented seamer by an enthusiastic 21 year old coach, Aviwe Mfiki, Bamanye was part of a group of 12 year old’s being put through their paces (bowling on a concrete strip that was barely passable as a net) in front of an inquisitive overseas investigative journalist. Soon after, Bamanye was awarded a scholarship at the renowned Dale College in King William’s Town.

Annual selection in Border age group teams soon followed on a regular basis from U13 right through to Franchise cubs and ultimately, a First Class debut for Border in 2017 in the CSA One Day Challenge. He has gone on to be a regular selection for the senior provincial side but the best of Bamanye is yet to come.

He switched to Mpumalanga ahead of the 2020-21 summer as they head towards First Class status and was excellent for the Rhinos. 235 runs and 24 wickets in 11 games, he had a number of excellent performances including a season best 6-51 against his former province, Border. He also had a couple of strong knocks in the One Day comp. Bamanye was snapped up by Division One Province, Boland ahead of the 2022-23 summer.

His impact at Boland was immediate, bagging 18 wickets in the 2022-23 CSA T20 challenge @ 11.05 with a best of 4-30. He finished 3 wickets clear at the top of the wicket-takers list.

Seeking his first season in the UK, Bamanye joined CIYMS CC in Northern Ireland. A summer that saw him return home for a bereavement but fly back was a tough period but his return overall was a solid first showing, with 197 runs @ 19 and 24 wickets @ 23.

Bam will be a great pick up for a club seeking an incredibly promising seam bowler that can genuinely be a game changer with the bat for this summer. Bamanye is also a qualified CSA Level One coach (ECB Level Two equivalent).
