Bash is a quality right-arm fast bowler from South Africa’s beautiful Eastern Cape capital, Port Elizabeth. A tall seamer, Bash made his debut in summer 2007-08 against Western Province picking up 3-31 (16). Since his introduction to First Class cricket, Bash went on become a regular for Eastern Province and the Warriors with later moves to Western Province and South Western Districts.
A consistent performer at provincial level, Bash has accrued over 500 wickets across all formats. His consistency has led to selection on a number of occasions for the South Africa Emerging players and National Academy sides. Not a noted batsman, Bash has managed to put together two first class 50’s but amazingly, his long hitting ability isn’t without its own accolades, having been credited with more First Class sixes than many of his fancied top order team mates with 65 career sixes.
In his first UK stint, for Porthill Park in 2017, Bash picked up 45 wickets @ 14.49 and chipped in with 571 runs @ 38.07. He returned to the UK in 2019, joining ECB Yorkshire South Premier League regulars, Cleethorpes CC. Whilst not as prolific as his previous stint, Bash was once again a great clubman, doing some great work with the juniors and a popular guy in the change rooms.
In summer 2021, Bash joined Alton CC for their ECB Southern Premier League campaign, picking up 36 wickets @ 13.42 with a best of 4-8 (8.1) against Bournemouth CC. He returned for their promotion push in 2022 and was instrumental in the league win, bagging 47 wickets @ 13.60 in all competitions and bowling one of the best bouncers of the season that went viral, leaving the recipient on the floor. He returned in 2023, helping the club to retain it’s place in the Premier League with 29 wickets @ 18.72.
2024 was another good year for the big man, with 33 wickets @ 20.61 and the club maintaining their place in the ECB Southern Premier League
Seeking a return to the Northern Hemisphere next summer, Bash will be a good all-round option for a club seeking a new ball bowler that can contribute with the bat.
