Ben Donkers is a talented young all-rounder originally from Canterbury. A hard-working Right-handed Middle Order Batsman, Ben is also a tidy right-arm Medium pace seamer. An attacking style of batsmen, Ben looks to score quickly and play his natural game with bat in hand. With the ball, he makes up for the lack of any discomforting pace with good inswing and uses his height to his advantage to get awkward bounce.
Coming from a cricketing family, his uncle Brendon is a renowned coach in NZ, having coached Canterbury and the New Zealand XI for a number of touring matches against visiting National sides. As expected, Ben is not only well coached but is also a keen coach himself with a positive attitude and infectious love of the game. Ben is also a New Zealand Cricket Level 1 coach.
Undoubtedly passionate about coaching, managing, and developing the next generation of cricket players, Ben has been the Youth Cricket Development Officer for North Otago, understanding the importance of growing the game, for both success and participation amongst all aspects of the community. This desire to help others reflects in his approach to the game and he’ll be an excellent off field contributor for any club.
Ben headed to the UK in 2022, joining Highgate CC in the Middlesex League. His batting out did his bowling with 927 runs @ 35.65 with a best of 118 off just 65 balls and 26 sticks @ 27.15 with a best of 4-37
Seeking another season in the UK next summer, Ben is looking to join an ambitious club with a good junior set up that can provide him with the opportunity to get as much cricket in during the summer as possible.
