Bishworjit Singh Konthoujam is an exceptional right-arm Fast/Medium bowler who plays for Manipur, India. A tight-handed lower order Batsman, not renowned for making too much work for the scorers, Bishworjit’s seam bowling is by far and away his dominant skill. With experience of more than 8 years of playing at State, Zonal, List A & T20 and First-Class tournaments, he has become a mainstay of the Manipur attack.
He came into prominence when he became the highest wicket-taker for Manipur in his debut Ranji Trophy season in 2018-19, bagging 30 wickets in just 8 matches, also finishing as the 10th highest wicket-taker in the whole competition. His stellar 2018-19 continued as he led the Manipur wickets tally in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19 season. His good form carried in to the following summer, breaking records with an incredible 7-wicket-haul (including a Hattrick) against Nagaland in Vijay Hazare Trophy. He finished with15 wickets @ 15.66 in just 7 games to again lead the Manipur wicket taking log.
He was again highest Wicket-taker for Manipur with 15 wickets in 3 matches in the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy as well as the highest wicket taker for Plate Group in the same tournament. With a penchant for bagfulls of wickets, Bishworjit has five 5-wicket hauls and five 4-wicket hauls under his belt since he first appeared for Manipur in the top flight. His status within the team has grown exponentially, having been the Vice Captain for the State team for the last two seasons. The 2022-23 Ranji Trophy Season saw him bag 5-fors against Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram and finish on 21 wickets for the tournament.
Seeking his first season in the UK in 2025, Bishworjit will be an excellent pick up for any club seeking a genuine strike bowler that with his naturally fuller length and late swing, should be a real handful in club cricket this season.
