Blayde Capell is a hard-hitting, wicket-keeper/top order Batsman from Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. A dashing left-hander, Blayde hasn’t followed the normal path of age group cricket for his province and then progressing to the professional game. His debut selection in the Kwa-Zulu Natal First Class team in October 2016 came off the back of some blistering form for club side, Berea Rovers CC.

He wouldn’t be sighted again following his debut until 12 months later, returning to the Kwa-Zulu Natal side for a win by an innings at Benoni, scoring 33 opening the batting. In and out of the side over the 17/18 and 18/19 seasons due to issues beyond his control, he has somewhat flown under the radar, averaging over 30 in both seasons at First Class level.

In his first season in the UK, Blayde joined Stony Stratford CC in Northamptonshire. After a slow start to the summer, Blayde scored 418 runs @ 46.44 in his last 12 innings and his form turn around also sparked the clubs season, winning 7 of the last 8 matches he played to cement themselves in the top half of the table. Blayde was also exceptional behind the stumps, with 25 dismissals.

Blayde relocated and sought opportunity with the South Western Districts Province following which his game kicked up a gear, with some consistent form across both red and white ball cricket, averaging just shy of 40 across FC & List A between 2020-22.

In Summer 2023, Blayde linked with Killyclooney CC in the North West Cricket Union and was outstanding, finishing the summer with 1788 runs @ 105.18 in just 20 knocks, simply incredible. He topped it off with 25 dismissals behind the stumps.

Blayde is seeking a return to the UK/Ireland next summer. Blayde will be a good pick up for a club seeking a top order dasher for next summer who can not only keep wicket to an exceptional standard but bowl some handy medium place as well, if required. Blayde will be travelling with his wife.
