Callum McLachlan is an exciting young WK/Batsman talent from Wellington, New Zealand. A hard-hitting Top/Middle Order batsman, he is a powerful Right-hander that hits as clean as any young batsman in the New Zealand domestic system. Callum is also adept gloveman that was a schoolboy star for St Patrick’s College, selected for the Wellington U19 side at just 17. Callum was selected to represent New Zealand at the 2018 ICC Under 19 World Cup played in NZ.

Callum started his senior cricket journey with Upper Hutt United CC in the Wellington Premier Cricket competition from 2016 and to this day, remains a staunch club member, with over 100 1st XI games as their first choice WK/Batsman, he also a member of the club’s committee. A wholehearted clubman, prior to earning his contract with the Wellington Firebirds, he worked as Upper Hutt’s community development officer, earning his New Zealand Cricket Level 1 & 2 coaching qualification and delivering Cricket Wellington’s grassroots program.

Outside his cricket commitments for the Firebirds, for whom he made his professional debut in November 2021 having secures a full time contract ahead of the 2021-22 season. Callum has been running and overseeing the Upper Hutt United senior pre-season training program, despite his Firebirds obligations, reiterating just how much a club and community focused cricketer and coach he is.

His First Class debut came against Canterbury, equalling a first class record of most dismissals on debut, with 9, 8 catches and a stumping. Now into his 4th year with the Firebirds, he has proved a reliable back-up Wicket-keeper/Batsman when Tom Blundell is on Blackcaps duty.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2025, Callum will be a fantastic pick up for any UK club seeking a hard-hitting top order batsman that can don the gloves next summer that will be just as much of an asset off the field as he will be on it. Callum’s partner will visit for 5 weeks from Mid-May during his stay.
