Chaminda Bandara

Chaminda Bandara is an experienced former Sri Lankan International seamer from Kegalle. A left-handed lower order batsman not renowned for his batting exploits, his Left-arm Fast/Medium seam-bowling is quite the opposite.

A past pupil of St. Mary’s College, Kegalle, Chaminda was first selected for Sri Lanka at U17 level back in 2004, he was a regular for Sinhalese & Kandy Sports Club U23 from the age of 19 before making his professional debut for Sinhalese in the Premier Limited Overs Tournament in January 2011. By 2016, he was one of the countries standout domestic seamers and was subsequently included in the 2016 Sri Lankan National team squad to tour England in 2016, making 2 appearances on tour, one each in ODI & T20I Cricket.

Chaminda has had just the one previous season in the UK, a 2021 season with Burnmoor CC in the North East Premier League. A late arrival with visa issues and quarantine requirements of the 2021 season saw Chaminda restricted to just 20 appearances but he was solid with 28 wickets @ 21.21 in one of the countries best leagues.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Chaminda will be a good pick up for any club seeking an experienced seamer that is also an ECB Level 2 qualified coach.
