Christopher Britz is an exciting all-round talent currently playing for North West Province in South Africa. A hard-hitting Top/Middle Order Batsman, Chris is also a capable Right-arm Fast Medium seamer. Originally from the Easterns Cricket epicentre of Benoni, he represented the province at the National U13 week. He moved to Pretoria to attend the prestigious Pretoria Boys High School. Whilst residing in the region, Northerns Province swooped in and picked him for back to back National U17 weeks and the 2017-18 edition of the Khaya Majola Coke Week.
At the conclusion of his Schooling, he headed of to Pretoria University (TUKS) to study and joins the cast of thousands, it seems, of Cricketers to emerge from TUKS and walk straight into a First Class team, heading to Potchefstroom after accepting a chance to link with the North West Province for his first crack at Professional Cricket.
Having dominated for the North West Colts, with 428 runs @ 107.00 across both red & white ball formats, he was awarded debuts for the senior province in both 4-day & 1-day competitions in March 2021. Grabbing his chance with both hands, Chris has been a solid contributor for the Dragons with 423 runs @ 38.44 since debuting.
Seeking his first season in the UK in 2023, Chris joined Finchampstead CC in the ECB Home Counties Premier League. A slow start was balanced out with a strong middle third of the season whereby he’d adjusted to conditions and was also a solid contributor with the ball, picking up 17 wickets @ 26.
He returned to Finch, captaining the side and his 2nd stint was the impressive performance expected, 764 runs @ 47 and 28 wickets @ 18. His contributions saw him leave the club in pole position to take out the Home Counties Prem but it wasn’t to be with a last day loss scuppering the title hopes.
Chris will be an excellent pick up for any UK club looking for an exciting top order Batsman that can contribute with some better than useful seam-up bowling.
