Codi Yusuf

Codi Yusuf is an energetic and promising genuine all-rounder, born in South Africa’s Western Cape but based in Johannesburg. A dashing right-hander, Codi is an aggressive stroke-maker who enjoys clearly relishes his role of coming in at No. 6/7 and playing freely. He can temper this aggression with a cooler head, as he showed in October 2019 in just his 2nd First Class match, when sharing a 185-run stand with double centurion, Ryan Rickelton, when Gauteng were 5-135.

His most dangerous asset though, is his hustle and bustle style seam-bowling. Clocking in at better than 80mph with late swing and a nasty short-ball, Codi has genuine pace that has seen him trouble some of South Africa’s better provincial batsmen since his debut in the Africa Cup for Mpumalanga in 2018. He switched to Gauteng for summer 2019-20 having been offered a semi-pro contract for the current summer.

His First Class debut started well, chipping in with a patient 32 (66), he would back this up with match figures of 7-122 (30), picking up 5-76 in the 2nd innings to leave Gauteng a misely 109 to win. His form has not been restricted to red-ball cricket, picking up 8 wickets @ 13.62 in his first 5 List A games for Gauteng. He was Gauteng’s bowler of the year in the 2019-20 summer.

Codi joined Cuckney CC for his first season as an Overseas in 2021 as they chased the ECB Nottinghamshire Premier League title. He bagged 23 wickets @ 24.52 and chipped in with 442 runs @ 29.47. He returned in 2022, joining Sidmouth CC in the ECB Devon Premier League, scoring 1276 runs @ 55.48 in all formats and picking up 30 wickets @ 30.53.

Codi will be a great pick up for any UK club seeking a genuine new-ball bowler that can no doubt be a big contributor in the middle order next season.
