Cole McConchie is a high-class All-Rounder from Canterbury, New Zealand. A hard-hitting middle order batsman, he is also a very capable Right-arm Off Spinner. About as Canterbury as they come, Cole is a product of the Canterbury system, start to finish, representing them from youth age groups through to captaining the Senior team. He was honoured with selection for the Blackcaps for the first time in 2021, picked for the tour to Bangladesh.

Cole made his debut for Canterbury in 50-Over Cricket against Otago in summer 2011-22 and was offered a contract for the 2012-13 season, making both his First Class and Twenty20 debuts that first contracted summer. Having toiled for a few seasons with intermittent appearances, in 2016, Cole, playing only his seventh First Class game, hit his maiden century in a rain-affected draw against Otago.

By 2018, Cole was named as Canterbury captain and had represented New Zealand A in one-day cricket and had become a permanent fixture in the professional game with an eye on higher honours. In November 2020, Cole was named as the captain of New Zealand A against the touring West Indian team

In August 2021, Cole was named in NZ’s T20I squad for their tour of Bangladesh, picking up 7 wickets @ 16 in the 5-game series including a wicket with his first ball in International Cricket. Cole selected in NZ’s ODI & T20I squads for their tour of Pakistan in April 2023. In all going on to represent the Blackcaps on 18 occasions.

Cole has plenty of UK experience, with 4 stints previously, all with plenty of success. His first UK adventure saw him join Monmouth CC in the Worcester League as an 18 year-old, scoring 1139 runs @ 54.24 and picking up 15 wickets. He returned in 2011, signing for Ventnor CC in the Hampshire League, pumping out 1353 runs/38 wickets. 2012 saw Cole return as part of the NZ Cricket/Durham exchange program, playing in Durham’s 2nd XI and club cricket for Blaydon CC, finishing with 816 runs/32 wickets. His most recent trip was a 2019 stint with Wimbledon CC picking up 28 wickets @ 19 & 548 runs as the club finished top 4 in the Surrey Championship.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Cole will be a fantastic option for any UK club seeking a high end all-rounder that is a natural leader and brings a wealth of experience in all conditions with him. Cole is a New Zealand Level 2 coach (ECB Level 3 equiv).

Cole will be travelling with his wife and children for the summer.
