Courtney Gounden

Courtney Gounden is a talented left-handed batter from Durban, South Africa. A very capable Left-hander, she represented Kwa-Zulu Natal Coastal at U19 level as well as Chatsworth Sporting’s Ladies team en route to her current role with the Dolphins Franchise in the South African domestic system, whom she captains

A standout cricketer as a youngster, her U19 representation started from the age of 15 and by 18, Courtney was a regular for KZN Coastal’s open age team. It was no surprise that she was deemed good enough for the South African U19 side from the age of 16.

Courtney got the 2024-25 season off to a good start in the local T20 comp for the Mlaba Blasters and is primed to play a key role for the Dolphins long into the future having been in top 3 run scorers across both List A & T20 formats over the 2022-2024 period.

Continued good form should see Courtney enter the reckoning for the Proteas Ladies and in search of an extra edge, she turned her attention to pursuing overseas cricket in the off season, joining Sessay CC. She was outstanding for them, with 946 runs @ 78.83 throughout the summer.

A keen cricketer and keep to develop her coaching skills, Courtney is looking to return to the UK next summer.
