Damion Williams

Damion Williams is a talented seamer currently living and playing in Montserrat and is currently he national men’s team vice-captain. Born in Plymouth, he has represented the Leeward Islands through the age groups with his Right-arm swing bowling proving effective particularly in the 2010 U19 West Indies championships, finishing the tournament among the best bowlers with 17 wickets @ 13.47 in just 7 games.

Having studied in Jamaica and played for the University of Technology, he was selected for the Combined Colleges and Campuses Trials in 2012 & 2013 but couldn’t quite crack the side. He returned to Montserrat after finishing his studies and has been in the National men’s side ever since. In 2021, Damion was contracted to join the Leeward Islands ahead of the 2021-22 season.

His elevation to the Leeward Islands squad came of the back of seeking continuous improvement, so Damion sought to play in the UK in 2019 to continue to develop his game and targeted an ECB Premier League club to enable that. He joined Ticknall CC in the ECB Derbyshire Premier League and for much of the season was the leading wicket taker. Damion finished the summer with 56 wickets @ 18.75 for the club and was a part of our WSX XI that took on various county’s throughout 2019. His hustle and bustle style, with a powerful action and genuine pace impressed enough for him to pick up games for Derbyshire and Northants 2nd XI’s in the second half of the season.

For summer 2021, Damion linked initially with Frinton-on-Sea CC but due to registration complications, switched to Avebury CC in the WEPL Wiltshire League. Hampered by a side strain, Damion still returned 18 wickets @ 24.39 with a best of 6-20 for Avebury CC.

A very sharp seamer that swings it both ways and is an excellent fielder, Damion will be a hot pick up for a club seeking a handy quick for next summer. Damion holds a UK passport.
