Dane Paterson is a hustle and bustle fast seamer from Cape Town, South Africa. A right-arm Fast bowler, Dane is also hard-hitting lower order Batsman who scores over 70% of his runs in boundaries across all formats. A former Western Province age group representative, he was awarded his Pro debut in 2009 as a 19 year old and has gone on to become one of the staples of domestic cricket over the last 10 years with over 260 domestic appearances and over 500 wickets in that time. He was rewarded for his consistency with an International call up in January 2017, making his International debut for South Africa against Sri Lanka in a T20I.

Upon turning Pro, Dane spent his first couple of seasons in the Western Province senior provincial side but headed east to the Dolphins in 2011 in search of Franchise cricket. After 2 seasons with the Dolphins he returned to the Cape Cobras where he has been a regular fixture for both the Franchise and provincial sides ever since. His longevity is enhanced by his attitude towards fitness and personal preparation, often setting the benchmark amongst his peers on the training field.

In August 2017, Dane was named in the Bloem City Blazers’ squad for the ill-fated first season of the T20 Global League that failed to get off the ground. However, in October 2018, he was named in Paarl Rocks’ squad for the first edition of the successful Mzansi Super League T20 tournament, Dane finishing the inaugural edition as the joint-leading wicket-taker for the Rock’s.

To date, Dane has made 12 appearances for the Proteas, picking up 13 international wickets, 9 of which have come in his 8 T20I appearances.

Dane joined Nottinghamshire CCC ahead of the 2021 season and has been outstanding for them, notching up the 200 wicket mark in the 2023 summer.
