Danushka Sandaruwan is a quality left-arm Orthodox Spinner and lower order Left-handed Batsman from Maharachchimulla, Sri Lanka. Currently representing Negombo in the Sri Lankan Domestic competitions across all three formats, 2022 was a break out year for him domestically.
A late bloomer by Sri Lankan standards, Danushka didn’t appear in the professional game in until he was 26 in summer 2019-20, making his debut in T20 Cricket for Negombo against SL Army Sports Club, picking up 2-19. He made his List A & First Class debuts over the following 12 months but would have to wait until 2022 to really push his way into the Negombo side as a regular selection.
40 wickets in 14 games throughout 2022, including an exceptional 20 wickets @ 10.85 in the One-Day cup have seen him cement a slot in the Negombo side and he comes highly recommended by long-term UK Overseas Professional, Ashen Silva.
Seeking his first season in the UK in 2024, Danushka will be an excellent signing for a club seeking a strike Left-arm Spinner who will bat down the order but utilise his time in the UK to spend as much time in the middle as possible.
