Edward Moore is a gifted Left-handed Top Order Batsman from Uitenhage in South Africa’s Eastern Province. A schoolboy star, Eddie was a regular in his province’s age group teams from U13 right through to U19 Provincial and the South African U19 team. He made his first class debut a month after his national team selection at just 18 years old towards the conclusion of the 2011-12 season.

After a mixed start to his First Class career, Eddie had a coming of age season in 2013-14, scoring 680 runs @ 45.33. His milestone moment coming in the form of a masterful 128 (165) in a 2nd Innings total of 4-337 against Namibia in a stunning 82-run victory for Eastern Province, who had been dismissed for a paltry 88 in the first innings. After an indifferent 2014-15, Eddie returned to the performance levels he expects of himself and that he had shown promise of from an early age with 676 runs @ 45.06 (2015-16) and 981 runs @ 41.29 (2016-17) as he became a regular for the Warriors at Franchise Level in the 4-day game.

In summer 2018, Eddie joined Rochdale CC for their first Lancashire League campaign. In just a short 10-week stint in the UK, Eddie scored 1091 runs @ 64.18 including 8 x 50’s & 3 x 100’s in 21 innings. He also chipped in with 14 wickets but his batting was exceptional and his off field manner simply superb. He returned again in 2019 for the first half of the season, scoring 573 runs @ 47.75.

In summer 2021, Eddie joined Minster (Sheppey) CC in Kent as they sought promotion to the ECB Kent Premier League. Despite missing a portion of the season with a South African A tour to Zimbabwe, Eddie was still prolific, scoring 962 runs @ 87.45 with a league best of 155.

He returned in 2022 and was made skipper during the season, such is the regard with which he is held at the club. His 1045 runs @ 45.43 and 25 wickets @ 22.60 was once again Eddie doing what Eddie does best. He backed this up in 2023 with another 915 runs @ 53.82.

Summer 2024 saw Eddie head north again, joining Todmorden CC in the Lancashire League and he was at it again, scoring 1068 runs and chiming in with 19 wickets.

Eddie is seeking to play in the UK yet again and will be a popular choice for UK clubs for next summer that seek a prolific, high-end Top Order batsman that is capable of bowling better than useful off-spin.
