Ethan Smith is a talented young top-order Batsman and part-time Leg Spinner from Baldivis, Western Australia. A patient and correct Right-hander, he was a dominant force through the age-groups and since switching to Willeton District Cricket Club from the Rockingham Hornets Junior CC, his game has gone to another level.
A hardworking and ambitious cricketer, Ethan is a committed cricket that does everything he can to get the most out of his potential. Having been invited into a specialist cricketing high school, his passion for cricket has only grown. Work hard on his fitness, strength, flexibility and the mental side of the game, he has travelled around Australia and internationally to learn and grow including a recent trip to India with a cohort from Tom Scollay’s Cricket Mentoring prorgram.
Since 2021, Ethan has worked closely with Willeton DCC Head Coach, Aaron Harwood following his rapid elevation into the club’s top squad. Since joining the club’s elite program, Ethan has transitioned from a dominant junior cricketer, having scored the most runs as an u/17 in the entire state, to now being a genuine part of the senior grade squad. Regularly opening the batting in the 2nd XI, Ethan is certainly in the frame to play 1st grade in the not-too-distant future, alongside a 1st XI containing 3 players that have played for Australia in Cameron Bancroft, Aaron Hardie and Darcy Short and a number of other WACA Pathway players.
Seeking his first season in the UK in 2023, Ethan will be an excellent pick up for any club seeking a high-class, young, Top Order Batsman that can contribute with some handy part-time leg spin next summer. Ethan is eligible for a UK Ancestral Visa and will hold a Cricket Australia Level One coaching qualification.
