Fabid Ahmed is yet another incredibly talented Indian cricketer we’re lucky enough to have join us going forward. A former junior star and Kerala representative, Fabid made his first appearance for the State at just 12 years old and was representing the Under 16 side just a year later. A clean-hitting, tall, Right-handed Middle Order Batsman, Fabid is also an excellent Right-arm Off Spinner that gets good turn and bounce from his energetic action.
Having captained many of Kerala’s age group sides, Fabid unsurprisingly debuted for his native Kerala at Men’s level in 2014 and just 19 years old. He would go on to play 29 matches across all formats including 6 x Ranji Trophy matches for them. After a tumultuous 2018, mostly dressing room drama, Fabid was one of a handful of players that shifted their alliance to the newly found Puducherry cricket team ahead of the 2018-19 Indian domestic season. He made his first appearance for Puducherry in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy against Manipur in Puducherry’s first ever domestic match.
The newly-formed side’s entry into Indian Domestic Cricket was not without its challenges but Fabid has remained with the Puducherry Association and has become one of their most valuable players, finishing the 2018-19 season as the leading wicket-taker for Puducherry in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, 11 wickets in just 5 games @ 14.54 with a best of 5-8. Fabid was also named the man of the match in Puducherry’s first ever Ranji trophy victory having scored a century and taking six wickets.
In the 2019-20 & 2020-21 seasons, his form was exceptional, with 825 runs @ 68.75 and 25 wickets @ 21.24 in just 16 games. His best score of 233 (268) v Manipur came along side 4-26 (8) in yet another brilliant all-round display from an exciting young cricketer.
Fabid linked with Kislingbury Temperance CC for the 2022 summer, his first in the UK. A blistering start was cruelled by a knee injury which saw him play just 12 matches and return home. His 637 runs @ 70.78 saw him well clear at the top of the runs tally at the point of departure. He bagged 11 wickets @ 13.00 but his bowling was restricted to just 55 overs by the knee complaint.
Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Fabid will be a great pick up for any UK club seeking a game changing all-rounder. Fabid is an ECB Level 2 coach.
