Fawad Ahmed is a high-class, Pakistan-born Australian cricketer. A lower order Right-handed Batsman, his heavy artillery comes in the form of his Right-arm Leg Spin. A former First Class player in Pakistan, he emigrated to Australia and was granted Australian citizenship in July 2013. Having been a top quality performer for Victoria, he debuted for the Australian team shortly after being awarded citizenship, playing 5 matches across both white-ball formats.

Born in Pakistan, Fawad began playing cricket for Swabi District in local competitions. He made his first-class debut for Abbottabad in 2005, playing just two matches. Ahmed resumed playing first-class cricket in 2009, appearing for Pakistan Customs in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy followed by a further three matches for Abbottabad.

Ahmed left Pakistan in 2010, emigrating to Australia, choosing to live in Melbourne, Victoria. Fawad joined Hoppers Crossing CC in the VTCA competition and soon progressed to playing for Melbourne University in Victorian Premier Cricket, where he remains today. In late 2012, Fawad signed with the Melbourne Renegades, he made his debut in the Big Bash League in January 2013 and was subsequently selected in the Prime Minister’s XI to play against the West Indies.

Having been a powerhouse a strike weapon for Victoria, Fawad made his mark in T20 cricket and became an in demand Draft pick around globe, clocking up over 150 appearances in domestic and Franchise Cricket in his career thus far.

A keen coach, Fawad is seeking his first placement in the UK in 2023 and looks to join a club that is passionate and focused on coaching and youth development, as he angles towards a transition from playing to coaching.

Fawad will be one of the most experienced players available for club cricket next summer and holds a Cricket Australia Level 2 Coaching qualification.
