Grant Roelofsen is a high-end Top Order Batsman and Wicket-Keeper originally from Johannesburg but now playing his Cricket for Kwa-Zulu Natal Inland as a part of the Dolphins Franchsie system. A patient and focused right-hander, Grant is not only a former age group star for his native Gauteng, but a former South Africa U19 Test & ODI representative. In his first SA U19 test match, playing on the historic Fenner’s ground at Cambridge, he compiled a patient yet clean striking 149 (22 x Fours, 1 x Six).
Having transitioned to the First Class game, making his debut in summer 2016-17, his first season didn’t go as planned with just 97 runs @ 19.40 but he did make a classy 51 in his first outing, a clear sign of the talent he possesses. Roll forward almost 12 months and Grant had shifted provinces to KZN Inland and was back in the First Class frame. In his first season at the province, he smoked 781 runs @ 65.08 including a stellar 224* (276) against Namibia at Pietermaritzburg in February 2018.
After an excellent 2018 stint with Barrow CC in the ECB Northern Premier League, which yielded 886 runs @ 38.52, Grant didn’t return to the UK again until 2022. There isn’t much explanation required for how the 2022 summer panned out for Grant, 1768 runs @ 98.22 with 9 x 100’s, a call up for Essex in the Royal London Cup capped off the most prolific time of his career to date.
Grant joined Gloucestershire for the 2023 summer but returned to Billericay for summer 2024, scoring 950 runs in 13 innings at the ridiculous average of 118.75, recording just 3 scores of less than 50 for the summer.
Seeking another season abroad next summer, Grant is seeking to join a Premier League club for his next sojourn to the UK and is fortunate enough to hold a UK Ancestral Visa which is in place. A high quality top order batsman that will no doubt be an exceptional pick up.
