Hamza Sajjad bowls fast. Very Fast.
A right-arm seamer from Gujranwala, Pakistan, he clocks in around the 140km/h mark and through the exchange program between Zimbabwe and Pakistan, launched his professional career in the Zimbabwean domestic system in summer 2023-24, joining the Eagles Franchise.
He earned massive “ringer” status in his first game for the Eagles, his delayed arrival meaning his first appearance was in the Pro50 Championship Final. His game-changing 4-46 (8) restricted the Rhinos to a sub-par 1st innings total, with the Eagles cruising home and Hamza collecting his first piece of silverware on debut.
After a steady start in the Logan Cup, his 3rd game saw him pick up 6-52 for the match and overall, his 25 wickets @ 21.76 was a very impressive return in his debut First Class season. He bagged 7 wickets @ 17.42 in the season ending T20 competition, going at just over 6 runs an over to cap off what has been a very strong and worthwhile African adventure.
Seeking his first season in the UK in 2024, Hamza will be an excellent pick up for any club seeking a genuinely quick opening bowler for the summer that is sure to give the local batsman a few sleepless Friday nights.
