Hanno Kotze

Hanno is an attacking Right-handed Top Order Batsman from Malmesbury in South Africa’s Western Cape. A middle order Batsman in the longer formats, he tends to open up in white-ball cricket and is also a more than handy right-arm medium/fast seamer. Not content with being a normal all-rounder, Hanno also keeps wicket. Having spent 5 seasons with South Western Districts (SWD) in South Africa’s provincial competition, he returned home to his native Boland for one season in 2018-19 but has since gone back to SWD.

After a somewhat innocuous start to his first class career, just 547 runs @ 22.79 in his first 4 seasons of Pro cricket at First Class level, Hanno returned home in 2017 full of confidence after a first season of club cricket in the UK with Oundle Town CC in the ECB Northamptonshire Premier League. Hanno scored 1154 runs and took 48 wickets across all formats and returned home full of confidence in his own game.

On his return to SA, things really clicked into gear, Hanno scoring 660 runs @ 50.77 in 2017-18 in First Class and an equally impressive 336 runs @ 37.33 in the One day competition. This prompted his home province, Boland, to seek him out for a return for the 2018-19 summer. Return home he did and he went on to score 598 runs @ 37.37 in the 2018-19 summer in First Class Cricket, continuing his development as a genuine first class player.

Hanno returned to the UK in summer 2022, joining Roe Green CC in the Greater Manchester League. His 666 runs was a solid return and his off field work with the juniors was exceptional. The club showed faith in re-engaging him for 2023 and it paid off with 1051 runs @ 40.42 & 14 wickets @ 9.07.

A capable seamer and also tidy gloveman, Hanno will be a great pick up for any UK club seeking a top order batsman that can genuinely contribute in all 3 aspects of the game. Hanno is also a Cricket South Africa Level 2 coach (ECB Level 3 Equivalent).
