Hanu Viljoen

Hanu Viljoen is a highly-rated and very talented Wicketkeeper/Batsman from Pretoria in South Africa. A skilful gloveman, he is also a classy Right-handed Top Order Batsman that is likely to emerge as one of, if not the best young WK/Bat in South Africa having first appeared on the Provincial scene as a 20 year old for Northern Cape.

A Pretoria High School Old Boy, he was a regular for Northerns through the age groups, dominating at the National Age group championships before taking an opportunity post-matric to join the Northern Cape Heat in the South African domestic system.

Since his debut in the 2021-22 CSA T20 Challenge for the Heat, he hasn’t looked back. In his first 39 appearances for Northern Cape, he’d plundered 1471 runs @ 49.03 across all three formats with a particularly impressive Red-ball record of three hundreds and three fifties in his first 15 games @ 59.50.

With such outstanding form and the Heat unable to gain promotion to the top flight, it was no surprise that the Dolphins came in swinging for him to replace the Boland-bound Grant Roelofsen. He made an impressive start to his time in Natal, scoring 135 runs in 3 digs for the ICR Rockets in the Castle Corner Bash.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2025, Hanu will be an outstanding pick up for any UK club seeking a prolific top order batsman that can take the gloves next summer. A sneaky short-lister for the potential signing of the summer.
