Hendrichs Macheke

Hendrichs Macheke is somewhat of a dark horse of Zimbabwe Cricket. Having been a youth star, representing Zimbabwe at age group level, the skillful all-rounder vanished, off to South Africa to study, model, play some some club cricket and just get on with life. A capable Right-handed Middle/Lower Order Batsman, Hendrichs is a genuine wicket-taking strike seamer across all three formats of the game that returned to Zimbabwe during COVID.

On his return to Zimbabwe, Hendrichs returned to Mutare and joined Westside Cricket Club in the Manicaland CA and later the Mutare Sports Club. IIt wasn’t long before the Mountaineers Franchise came knocking in 2023, pulling him in for a couple of one-dayers against the Tuskers, making his professional debut almost 10 years after it would have been if he’d stayed in the Zim Cricket system.

His debut 2-30 (8) set up a Mountaineers win and the Rhinos reached out to him to link with them for the 2024-25 season and his impact was immediate for the Mid West Franchise. In the One Day Cup, Hendrichs bagged 7 wickets @ 16.28 but it was the T20 competition that his impact was the greatest, collecting 10 wickets @ 11.80 with a best of 4-22. He also made his first class debut in summer 2024-25.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2026, Hendrichs will be a shrewd pick up for any club seeking a strike new ball bowler that can wield the willow down the order next summer. Hendrichs is Cricket South Africa Level One coach.
