Himesh Ramanayake

Himesh is a highly talented fast bowling all-rounder currently playing First Class cricket in Sri Lanka for Police Sports club. Himesh comes from an excellent cricketing family, his dad, Champaka Ramanayake, who was the Sri Lankan bowling coach for many years, played 18 Tests and 62 ODI’S for Sri Lanka and his brother Hashen has been a fantastic UK professional for many years in various leagues.

Himesh has been highly thought of from a very young age where he started his cricketing career at the famous Royal College. His impressive displays saw him selected for the Sri Lanka Under 19 team at just 17 years old.

He made his first-class debut for Burgher Recreation Club in the 2017–18 Premier League Tournament in Dec 2017. He made his List A & T20 debuts for BRC during the same season.

In March 2018, he was named in Dambulla’s squad for the 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament and in October 2020, he was drafted by the Colombo Kings for the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League.

In March 2021, he was part of the Sinhalese Sports Club team that won the 2020–21 SLC Twenty20 Tournament, the first time they had won the tournament since 2005. Later that year, he was named in the SLC Reds team for the 2021 SLC Invitational T20 League tournament. He represented Sri Lanka A against Pakistan A shortly thereafter.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2026, Himesh is a gifted young player that has plenty of upward curve. His powerful Right-handed hitting and Right-arm Fast/Medium seam bowling will be sure to a handy addition to any UK club for the summer.
