Hugo Burdon

Hugoo Burdon is a highly-rated young Batsman from the Gold Coast, Queensland. Born in Singapore, Hugo is a gifted Right-hander, currently contracted to the Queensland Bulls in Australia’s domestic system. He is also a developing Right-arm Leg Spinner. From one of Australia’s iconic regions, the Gold Coast, Hugo attended The Southport School and was a key member of their GPS School 1st XI and is a natural leader.

A junior star, he represented Queensland at Under-17 and Under-19 level, dominating his last year of age group cricket, finishing the 2019-20 National Championships as Queensland’s leading run-scorer and wicket-taker with 192 runs @ 64.00 to go with 5 wickets @ 17.40. He had already made his first grade debut for the Gold Coast Dolphins as a 17-year-old.

A player of immense talent, he was signed by the Brisbane Heat for the 2021-22 & 2023-24 Big Bash League Tournaments. Whilst he didn’t debut for the Heat, he has been a regular feature in the Queensland pathways system and made his QLD 2nd XI debut in season 2021-22, going on to captain the side in 2024-25, having been handed a full state contract for the season. He has made 5 top flight appearances for Queensland in the One-Day Cup.

Hugo has one season of UK experience, having had a 2023 stint with Bexley CC in the ECB Kent Premier League, scoring 789 runs @ 37.57. He struck a season best 113 against Three Bridges CC in the ECB National Club Championship.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Hugo holds a UK Ancestral Visa and is a Cricket Australia Level One accredited coach. Hugo is keen to play in the South of England.
