Ibrahim Zadran is another outstanding young talent from Afghanistan, a country young on experience but full of talent that just continues to produce outstanding young cricketers ready to make their mark on International Cricket. A patient and hard-working Right-handed Top/Middle Order Batsman, Ibrahim is also a more than capable right-arm Medium/Fast seamer with a good economy and a bit of a “golden arm” factor. Ibrahim debuted for Mis Ainak Region at just 15 years old.

Ibrahim represented Afghanistan at two ICC Under-19 World Cups, in New Zealand in 2018 when they made the semi-finals and the 2020 tournament in South Africa when Afghanistan reached the Quarter Finals in January just prior to the pandemic. On both occasions he was the country’s leading run-scorer with 2020 being the most productive having scored 240 runs @ 60.00 for the tournament (6th Overall).

In the years that have followed, Ibra has become a regular in the Afghanistan national team squad and made his debut in Test match cricket at age 17, scoring 21 & 87 in his debut Test against Bangladesh in September 2019. In his 4 tests to date, he’s scored an impressive 356 runs @ 44.50 with 3 half-centuries in 8 innings. He has gone on to become an important cog in their T20 machine and was excellent at the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.

In his only UK season to date, in summer 2021, Ibra joined Boyne Hill CC for their Thames Valley Cricket League campaign, scoring 479 runs @ 34.21 with a best of 133* and chipping in with 6 wickets @ 27.50 with a best of 3-27. His bowling was restricted by a groin niggle but he certainly showed glimpses of his ability with both bat and ball during the summer.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Ibrahim will be a great pick up for any club seeking an International quality batsman that is more than capable of contributing with the ball during the summer.
