Imran Mir

Imran Mir is an exciting young talent from Kabul, Afghanistan. An elegant Right-hander with a glorious cover drive and a penchant for big knocks, Imran was a regular selection for Logar at age group level, no surprise considering he was playing First Class cricket 3 weeks after his 16th birthday. He’d already played a List A match 2 months earlier as a 15 year old.

Imran made his First Class debut for Mis-Ainak Region in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament in October 2017, hitting a 2nd Innings 111 (198) to help set up a huge 262-run win against Band-e-Amir Region and making an instant impact in the country’s blossoming provincial competition. He has gone on to score 1000+ runs in just 14 First Class games with 3 hundred and 4 Fifties.

Imran was a key inclusion for the Afghanistan U19 side that contested the ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa in Jan/Feb 2020. His opening game of the tournament produced a masterclass of cover-driving against hosts, South Africa. His 57 (48) included 10 boundaries and saw Afghanistan cruise to a 7-wicket win.

With limited cricket post-World Cup, Imran grabbed the bull by the horns when cricket resumed domestically in October 2021, hitting a glorious 122 (134) to set up an opening game win against Speen Ghar.

Seeking his first season in the UK in 2023, Imran will be a great pick up for a club seeking a high-quality top order Batsman with plenty of upward curve for next summer.
