Ish Sodhi

Ish Sodhi is an elite international cricketer that hs represented New Zealand on over 200+ occasions, predominantly in the white ball formats and in partciular, T20 Cricket. A skillful Right-arm Leg Spinner, he established himself as a key weapon in the Black Caps’ arsenal, climbing to the No. 1 ranking for T20I bowlers in January 2018.

Born in Punjab, India, Ish’s family moved to New Zealand when he was four years old and he grew up in Papatoetoe. He apeared for the Auckland U18 throughout his youth cricket and was selected for the 2012 ICC Under 19 World Cup squad. Later that year, Ish debuted in First Class Cricket for Northern Districts against Otago scoring 48 and bagging a couple of wickets. He would go on to represent the ND side on 150+ occasions before a move to Canterbury in 2024.

His Blackcaps debut came within 12 months of his professional debut, touring Bangladesh in October 2013 and kicking off what has been an outstanding career to date for the national side. He has spearheaded the New Zealand spin attack alongside Mitchell Santner, playing crucial roles in driving the team to the 2016 T20 World Cup semi-finals and the 2021 T20 World Cup final.

His crafty leggies have seen him become a franchise regular over the years with roles at Somerset, Manchester Originals, Trent Rockets and St Kitts & Nevis to name a few.

A cracking chap and a very good cricketer, we’re tipping Ish will be a dark horse with the bat for 2027 and no doubt a real handful with the ball next summer. Ish will need family accommodation from late June onwards.
