Jack Garner-Dart is an old-school style left-hander from Perth, Australia. An old head on young shoulders, he is a patient and gritty opener that likes to build an innings and has continued to develop his game quickly under the watchful eye of Tom Scollay at Cricket Mentoring.
Having attended the prestigious Hale School in Perth, he was the School’s leading run scorer in his final year. Throughout his youth career, Jack was a regular for Claremont Nedlands DCC in the WACA Premier Cricket competition’s age group sides, where he also contributed with his handy, but occasional leg-spin bowling. He moved to Subiaco-Floreat DCC ahead of the 2024-25 summer with the hope to push into the 1st XI by the back end of the season.
Jack was fortunate enough to travel to the Karnataka Institute of Cricket in India in 2024, enhancing his technical skills facing spin bowling. He was also lucky enough to have worked on his batting with Geoff Marsh, who was the coach at Hale up until his retirement. He has continued to work on his leg-spin with bowling Coach Ken Lilly.
A keen coach, Jack has has spent time coaching the Claremont Nedlands 5-8yo beginners and been involved in coaching at the holiday cricket camps run by International Sports Camps, working with 6-15 year olds. Jack is keen to pursue coaching long term.
Jack’s parents emigrated to Western Australia in 2001, entitling him to both Australian and British passports and he sought to join a UK club for the first time in 2025, signing for Thrapston CC in the Northants League. Despite starting the season as a 17-year old, Jack held his own, scoring 828 runs @ 31.85 in a very solid first outing in the UK.
Seeking a return next summer, Jack will be better for the run and has plenty of upward curve.
