Jake Carder is a highly-rated, experienced, Opening Batsman originally from Perth, now based in Adelaide. A gifted left-hander, he came through the Fremantle DCC system and debuted in 1st Grade for the club at 16, the same year he was selected for the Western Australian U17 side to contest the 2012-13 National championships. He’d go on to represent Australia at U19 Level as well as playing for the Cricket Australia XI, debuting against the touring West Indians, scoring 58.
After a number of years on the books at Western Australia, he grabbed a chance to head to South Australia ahead of the 2021/22 season. The move paid off, with a solid Sheffield Shield season ensuing, with 468 runs @ 33.42 and his maiden Shield century, a patient 237-ball, 118 against his former State making it just that little bit sweeter.
At club level, he’s been prolific for Port Adelaide DCC, piling on the runs and keeping himself in the line of sight for State selectors.
In summer 2023, Jake headed to England, joining Bishop’s Stortford in the Hertfordshire Premier League and was outstanding, pumping out 954 runs, 516 of those in the league @ 43.17 with two hundreds. His most eye-catching knock came in the form of a 148-ball score of 255 in a pre-season warm-up game against St Albans. He carried his form into the start of the SACA Premier Cricket season, with 349 runs @ 116.33 in his first 4 innings.
Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Jake will be a hot pick up for any club seeking a prolific top order batsman that can contribute with his Right-arm Off Spin.
