Jake is a top draw batsman currently playing first class cricket in Australia for Tasmania. A gifted Left-hander Jake has been a regular feature for the Tigers since moving south from Sydney as a 19 year old. A junior star, he was pegged for great things from an early age and featured for the Australian U19 side on over 30 occasions. He was the youngest player to be signed to a Big Bash League contract when he was picked up for the Sydney Thunder as a 17 year old.
In 2013, Jake almost became the youngest player to score a First Grade century, playing for Fairfield-Liverpool against Sydney University, he was on 87* when his team cruelly declared. Still, aged just 16, Jake became the youngest player ever to play for New South Wales 2nd XI and for the 2014/15 season, New South Wales signed him on a rookie contract.
In March 2015, Jake signed for Tasmania from New South Wales on a two-year contract initially, making his first-class debut in a Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia. In November 2017, he scored his maiden first-class century for Tasmania against South Australia and in March 2018, Cricket Australia named Jake in their Sheffield Shield team of the year.
His youth career was as glittering as it gets, having represented Australia Under-19s in both Youth Test and ODI. He averaged 83 at the 2014 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Dubai and captained the under-19 team in series against England under-19 in 2014/15, scoring 103 in the 2015 U-19 Test match between the teams at Chester-le-Street.
Jake has had one season of UK experience, a 2015 short but successful stint with Henley CC in the Home Counties Premier League, scoring 281 runs @ 70 in 7 digs.
Seeking a return to the UK this summer, Jake will be an excellent pick up for any club seeking a high-class top order batsman that can take the gloves or bowl some tidy left-arm medium pace this season. Jake will be travelling with his wife.
