James Barwise

James Barwise is a versatile and genuine all-rounder from London originally but a long-term Australian resident in the northern suburbs of Sydney. A Right-handed Middle Order Batsman, James is a quality Slow Left-arm Orthodox Spinner that currently represents Mosman Cricket Club in the NSW Premier Cricket competition.

A North Sydney junior, he played his initial adult cricket with Roseville CC in the Sydney Shires competition, playing their First Grade side. James opted to join Western Suburbs ahead of the 2023-24 summer and what a move it proved to be, needing a trailer to take his trophies home from awards night, claiming Players’ Player of the Year, Most wickets in the club and lower grades, Best Debut Season and was also listed in the Club’s Team of the Season. It was no surprise, having bagged 48 wickets in 18 matches @ 11.71 including a best of 7-29 against Penrith.

A leaner 2024-25 followed having played mostly in the Sydney powerhouse club’s 3rd XI throughout but a move closer to home loomed for 2025-26 as he joined Mosman Cricket Club. In an excellent start to the summer, he struck 66 & 114 in the 2nd & 3rd games of the summer. Game 5 saw him grab a maiden 5-wicket haul for his new club, with 5-47 against Bankstown CC in early November 2025.

Looking to utilise his UK Passport as a UK born player, James is eager to pursue cricket in the UK longer term. With his Cricket Australia Level One coaching qualification and experience of training under the guidance of our good friend and batting coach guru, Neil D’Costa, James will be a great pick up for any club seeking a capable spin bowling all-rounder for next summer.
