James Hartshorn is a talented seam-bowling all-rounder from Wellington, New Zealand. Intelligent and with a strong character/leadership traits, James is a quality Right-arm Fast/Medium seamer, clocking in around the 80mph mark. James is also a more than capable lower order Right-handed Batsman and as captain, has been a stalwart for Karori Cricket Club since joining them in 2015.
A skilful seamer, James was a regular for the Wellington U17 & U19 squads between 2015-17 before progressing to the Wellington A squad as a 20-year old in early 2018. His continued excellent form with the ball and consistent performances for the Firebirds A side, combined with his ability to lead, learn and progress saw James rewarded with his first professional contract, a 2-year Rookie deal in 2021.
In his first full season of Professional Cricket, James represented Wellington in both red & white ball cricket. Whilst not on duty for the senior side, James has assumed the Wellington A captain’s role, showing once again how highly thought of he is as a leader amongst men.
Having completed his Law degree, the focus shifted quickly to Cricket. In summer 2022, James joined Lymmington CC in the ECB Southern Premier League. Despite an early finish due to injury, James had been excellent as the club finished mid-table and James helping himself to 30 wickets @ 21.27
A qualified New Zealand Cricket Level 1 coach (ECB Level 2 Equiv), James is also fortunate enough to possess a UK Ancestry Visa allowing him to enter the UK with ease and will be a great pick up for any club seeking a genuine strike new ball bowler that will relish the English seam-friendly conditions but that is also looking to become a more consistent contributor with the bat in hand as well.
