Jamie Gibson is an experienced and talented all-rounder from Wellington, New Zealand. An attacking middle-order Batsman, Jamie is a hard-hitting right-hander and more than useful Right-arm Medium/Fast seamer. A promising schoolboy talent, Jamie was selected for the Wellington Under 18 team and a variety of other representative teams and was earmarked as one of the State’s most talented youngsters. He is a long-term member of Eastern Suburbs CC in the Wellington Premier Cricket competition.
Off the back of some good all-round club form in summer 2013-14, Jamie was picked to represent Wellington A against the touring Tasmania A side. Later that same year, before making his Wellington senior debut, Jamie was selected for the New Zealand XI to take on the touring Sri Lankan side in a warm-up game, he picked up 3 wickets, Kaushal Silva (twice) & Angelo Matthews. Jamie made his first professional appearance in the Ford Trophy in January 2015. His selection came off the back of his performance against Sri Lanka but also following a stellar 201* for Eastern Suburbs against Karori the weekend before his debut.
After a sporadic First Class and List A career, it would really be 3-4 years before Jamie became a regular in the Wellington side but since 2019, has become a regular feature in the Firebirds side, his hitting in the Twenty20 format has been particularly effective.
Jamie has had two previous seasons of experience in the UK, a 2015 stint with Hampstead CC in the Middlesex League and a follow up year in 2016 with Normandy CC in the Surrey Championship.
Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Jamie will be travelling with his partner and is keen to join a Premier League club, preferably further north than his previous experiences. Jamie is a Cricket New Zealand Level 2 (ECB Level 3 equivalent) coach.
