Jean du Plessis

Jean du Plessis is class act from George, South Africa. A genuine all-rounder that bats/bowls and ‘keeps, he has been a regular on the provincial scene since he was a a 12-year old when he was rolled out for South Western Districts for the first time at U13 level. A gifted Right-hander that bats anywhere in the top order, he went on to make his professional debut for the Badgers as a 17-year-old in the 2016/17 Africa T20 Cup.

It was no surprise he was selected to represent the South Africa U19 side at the 2018 ICC Under 19 World Cup in New Zealand but he was well past age group cricket by the time the tournament wrapped up as he was a regular feature whilst still finishing his schooling.

After a lengthy stint with SWD and some very consistent performances, he needed to move up to Division 1 Cricket and in 2024-25, took a chance to link with the GBet Warriors in Port Elizabeth. Jean has represented South Africa A on a handful of occasions and is a regular in CSA Chairman/Invitational sides selected to take on touring International sides.

Jean has had two fantastic summers in the UK, both with Welbeck CC in the ECB Notts Premier League, scoring 1,000+ runs on both occasions for the club as well as chiming in with a few wickets with the ball and dismissals with the gloves.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Jean will be a fantastic pick up for any UK club seeking a high class top order Batsman that can keep or roll the arm over if needed. Jean is an ECB Level 2 Coach.

Jean is available from June through to the end of August.
