Jock McKenzie is a freakish all-round sportsman from Auckland, New Zealand that comes from a sporting family. An exceptionally talented Batter/Seamer that is contracted to the Auckland Aces, he was an outstanding Rugby talent, representing the Auckland Blues in the Super Rugby Competition as a highly-skilled fly-half. His brother, Gus, is also a professional cricketer, representing Canterbury in the NZ domestic competition.
A hard-hitting Right-handed Batsman, Jock can bat anywhere in the line-up but seems to have landed in the Aces middle order. He is also a very capable Right-arm Fast/medium seamer that has an element of “golden arm” about him, but perhaps that’s just a result of having access to more talent than most of us.
A junior cricket star, Jock was a regular for Auckland through the age groups, representing Auckland in 2018 at the National U17 championships as a 16 year old before three back-to-back seasons in the U19 squad, having first been selected in December 2018, shortly after turning 17. Just a few months after his last U19 appearance, he was named in the Auckland NPC Rugby squad and proceeded to press on for 3 Super Rugby appearances for the Blues.
Having returned to Cricket in summer 2023-24, Jock made his professional debut in January 2024 against Otago in the NZ Super Smash T20. He had a fantastic start, picking up 3 wickets in his first 15 balls of Pro Cricket.
Jock spent the 2024 off-season with VOC in Ansterdam, scoring 208 runs @ 52 and jagging 9 wickets @ 25 in his first overseas outing.
Seeking to play in the UK for the first time in 2025, Jock will be an excellent pick up for any UK club seeking a skillful all-rounder that is also a really good social fit, as most Kiwi’s are.
