Johann de Jager

Johann de Jager is a talented young spin-bowler from Paarl, South Africa. An attacking Right-handed Middle/Lower Order Batsman, Johann is predominantly a Right-arm Off Spinner that whilst still having much to learn, has shown he can be a genuine contributor in men’s cricket despite his age.

Schooled at the renowned Paarl Gymnasium High School, his main role for the 1st XI was to deliver sustained pressure through excellent economy. With bat in hand, Johann was restricted to the middle/lower order but was occasionally used as a pinch hitter to get things moving along.

Alongside his cricketing prowess, Johann is also a very keen coach and having completed his CoachED qualification through the Gary Kirsten Academy, has worked for a private coaching company in Paarl.

In summer 2022, Johann linked with Sussex Club, Findon CC. In what was his first season abroad, his season was a mixed bag but showed plenty of promise, with 849 runs @ 26.53 & 55 wickets in all competitions in what was a tough season for the club as they were relegated at season’s end.

Classed as a local due to time spent in Country, Johann benefits from an UK Ancestral Visa is keen to join a high division club next summer to continue his cricketing development.
