Josie Penfold

Josie Penfold is a talented seam-bowling all-rounder from Auckland, New Zealand. A tall, Right-arm Medium Fast seamer, Josie is also a capable Right-handed Middle order batter that is a nice clean striker of the ball. From a cricketing family, Josie gets to play along side her sister, Molly. Born in the UK, Josie is contracted to the Auckland Hearts in the New Zealand Domestic system and in 2024 received a White Ferns wider squad contract.

Having been a promising age-group player, Josie represented Auckland U18 in both the T20 & 50-over competitions in 2017. In 2019, she headed to the UK, utilising her British Passport, joining Kent County Cricket club for the last season before COVID hit, making nine appearances across both 20 & 50 over formats.

Josie returned to New Zealand, pushing her way in to the Auckland Hearts senior side at the back end of the 2021-22 summer and has gone on to become a rock for the side and staking her claim for higher honours with White Ferns representation imminent, having been offered a contract that sees her train with the national side.

Josie is a long term Howick Pakuranga CC member and when available, has been one of the most effective seamers in the Women’s Premier competition.

Seeking a return to the UK in 2025, Josie joined Avebury CC in the WEPL and was outstanding on and off the field with 211 runs & 26 wickets in a great return.

Josie will be a fantastic pick up for any UK club seeking a high-end all-rounder that is not only a fantastic cricketer but a very keen coach, holding a NZC Level 2 coaching qualification.
