Julia Hoal

Julia Hoal is a talented young cricketer from Cape Town. A very capable Right-handed Top Order Batter, Julia is also a part-time Right-arm Medium seamer and has recently turned her hand to Wicketkeeping. Julia is currently representing the Boland Womens Provincial side in the Cricket South Africa Womens domestic competition and was recently drafted into the Women’s Super League (WSL) playing for the Coronations.

Julia’s rise to provincial cricket is made all the more remarkable by the fact that she did not pick up a cricket bat until she was 17. A talented hockey player, she has always had excellent hand-eye coordination and agility. Despite the late start to her cricketing journey, Julia has been like a duck to water with bat in hand.

Julia started her cricket at Old Mutual Cricket Club and her prowess with the bat didn’t go unnoticed by selectors and in her first ever season of Cricket in 2018-19 she was selected for the Western Province Women’s side.

Julia is currently studying at Stellenbosch University and will be continuing her studies part time in 2023.

Seeking her first season of cricket abroad in 2023, Julia linked with Mistley CC in Essex as well as Colechester & East Essex CC. She represented both the Mistley mens and ladies team’s as well as playing in the Essex Women’s Premier League for Colchester & EECC. 647 runs @ 24.88 and 21 wickets @ 18.10 was a solid first up return and her 287 runs @ 47.83 was an excellent performance.

She came back and was again excellent, piling on 1074 runs @ 32 and picked up 14 wickets with her part-time seamers.

Julia is keen to return next summer and as not only a good cricketer but an incredibly pleasant and polite young lady, will no doubt be a pleasure to host. Julia is ECB Core Coach qualified and holds a British Passport.
