Kagiso or “Jonty” as he is known, is a mature young man from Potchefstroom in South Africa. A former Gauteng age group player, from U13 through to U19, Kagiso transitioned immediately from age group Cricket to Men’s Provincial cricket in 2011 at the age of 20. A right-handed Top Order Batsman and occasional Off-Spinner, Kagiso has been a consistent member of the provincial team since his debut in summer 2011-12. Kagiso has gone on to not only represent his province on 90+ occasions but is now the First Class provincial captain. Leading a team consisting of some of South Africa’s finest young players is no mean feat and to have had the Province sitting atop the Sunfoil 3-Day Series in 2015-16 is a credit to both his players and his leadership.
Following his first season in the UK in 2016 being interrupted by both ground drainage issues and a request to return earlier than anticipated, Kagiso had certainly made an impression up until his departure with 524 runs @ 65.5 and 26 wickets @ 12.73 for Long Eaton CC. He returned again in 2017 but family illness required yet another early return having joined Muckamore CC in Northern Ireland.
Kagiso has spent his winters coaching with the province and at Potchefstroom Central School and can provide solid support off the field. Jonts is seeking a return to the UK in 2022 and will provide excellent leadership on and off the field as well as an being keen to assist with junior coaching.
