Karabo is a quality young Top Order Batsman from Johannesburg in South Africa. A prodigious talent at schoolboy level, he represented his native Gaunteng province throughout the agre groups, from U13 right through to the Senior Men’s provincial side.
Having accrued just the ten First Class games by the close of the 2015-16 South African Domestic summer, Karabo had shown enough glimpses of promise for the Cricket South Africa selectors to provide him with a chance to show his ability at the next level, selecting him for the South African Emerging players squad for the 2016 winter.
After a slow start, Karabo finished the series against the Sri Lankan Development XI & USSA XI in style, compiling a brilliant 205* (386) in 15 minutes shy of 10 hours at the crease. Looking to stake a claim to becoming a regular in the Gauteng & Lions teams, Karabo is a quality young player that appears destined for higher honours.
Capable of bowling off-spin, Karabo also holds a CSA Level One coaching qualification and after a short stint with Godmanchester Town CC in 2015, he returned to the UK in 2018, joining former Kent Premier League champions, Hartley CC for their task of returning to the Premier League after a Horror 2017 riddled with injury to their bowling attack.
His 2018 summer was a mixed bag, with 921 runs in all formats, he managed just 415 in the league with a highlight of a match winning 126 in a partnership of 209 with stalwart, James Thompson, who himself finished with 114*.
Karabo returned to the UK in 2022, joining Midsomer Norton CC in the West of England League Prem 2. A 4th place finish for the club was an excellent team effort with Karabo contributing 594 runs @ 37.13 with a best of 104* (120) against Golden Hill CC. He returned to Midsomer Norton CC in 2023 and was solid once again, scoring 518 runs @ 51.80 in the league.
Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Karabo will suit a club chasing a solid top/middle order Batsman for next season that has plenty of talent to burn.
