Kasun Abeyrathna is a talented and genuine all-round Cricketer from Imbulgoda, Sri Lanka. A patient Right-handed Middle Order Batsman, Kasun can not only bowl better than useful Right-arm Leg Spin, he has also dons the gloves in professional Cricket as well.
Schooled at Thurstan College, Kasun didn’t have the glittering youth career but opted to undertake study on the completion of his secondary schooling. With his degree completed, he re-focused on Cricket but maintained a regular place in the Lankan CC side that contests the various Provincial competitions in Sri Lanka.
After an excellent 2018-19 summer, Kasun’s form waned in the subsequent couple of seasons with regular cricket difficult in Sri Lanka during COVID but he grabbed his opportunity in 2022 with both hands, piling on 895 runs @ 44.75 in the 2022-23 SL Domestic period in the 4-day competition with a best of 145* to save the match against Sinhalese SC. His one day form was also exceptional, with 258 runs @ 43.00.
Seeking his first season in the UK in 2024, Kasun will be an excellent pick up for a club seeking an all-round pro that can genuinely bat, bowl and take the gloves
