Kasun Ekanayake

Kasun is a talented top order Batsman from Kaluthara in Sri Lanka. A gifted left-hander and tidy but sparsely used Off-Spinner, Kasun had a steady youth career that didn’t scale the heights it could have done but was certainly heading in the right direction by his mid twenties with his continued drive to improve yielding a place among the sports elite debuting in the professional game in 2018.

Currently playing for Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club in the Sri Lankan domestic system, Kasun has started to deliver on his ability with 2020-21 proving to be a breakout year of progression for him. Having played a handful of First Class games with limited success, Kasun has started to make his mark in the white-ball formats.

Through 2020-21, Kasun has averaged 40+ in One-day cricket and 30 in T20 Cricket. His best performance coming in his most recent game against ACE Captial, a composed 91 (112) setting up a 96 run win.

In summer 2022, Kasun took his first opportunity to play in the UK, joining Vernon Carus CC for their ECB Northern Premier League campaign. Despite a slow start and the team battling all season, he finished the season well and feedback from the club was excellent, scoring 350 of his 437 runs in the 2nd half of the season @ 35.00. He chipped in with 13 wickets as well.

Seeking a return to the UK next summer, Kasun will be a great pick up for a club seeking a dashing top order Batsman for this summer that is keen to make his mark in the UK. Kasun is ECB Core Coach Qualified.
